You’ve got an EA you trust and you want to run it on a funded account. FundedNext comes up in every “prop firm that allows EAs” list. Before you pay for a challenge, read the FundedNext EA rules line by line, because the ones that matter aren’t in the headline.
I went through FundedNext’s help center on 1 October 2026. Here’s what it says, in plain English, and what I’d check before connecting anything. Rules change, so confirm the current version before you buy.
Rule 1: EAs only on accounts below $50,000
This is the one that surprises people. FundedNext allows EAs, indicators and trading bots on MT4 and MT5 for accounts below $50,000. On accounts of $50,000 or more, you must trade manually: no EAs, no bots, no automated tools.
And it’s MT4 and MT5 only. On cTrader and Match-Trader, automated trading isn’t allowed. The Stellar Instant account is an exception on the allowed side: EAs are permitted there.
So if your plan is “a $100K challenge with my EA”, stop there. The size you can automate is smaller than the size in the ads.
Rule 2: you pay for the EA add-on
On the challenge pages, EAs and VPS show as available “with add-ons”. The “EA” and “VPS & EA” add-ons carry a usage fee, and FundedNext says that fee is non-refundable, even if you buy the add-on and never use it. The help center doesn’t publish the price; you see it in the purchase flow. Add it to the real cost of the challenge before you compare firms.
Rule 3: the EA rules themselves
- Each EA or bot must use a distinct strategy. If you run something many other traders also run, ask support in writing how they apply this to your case.
- Maximum $300,000 allocation per EA strategy.
- No EAs that connect to third-party apps such as Telegram or WhatsApp.
- No EAs built to pass prop firm challenges. FundedNext names several “challenge passer” products as prohibited.
- Trade managers count as EAs. Tools that only modify stop loss, take profit or lot size are classified as EAs too.
- Repeated violations can lead to suspension and reward denial.
Rule 4: strategies that end the account
FundedNext lists high-frequency trading, tick scalping, latency arbitrage and grid trading as prohibited, with account termination as the consequence for several of them. If your EA opens dozens of trades in seconds or adds positions in a grid, it doesn’t belong here, however good its backtest looks.
Rule 5: news trading and the 40% rule
News trading is allowed in the challenge and on funded accounts. But on Stellar 1-Step, 2-Step and Lite funded accounts, profitable trades executed from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after a listed high-impact event only count at 40% of their profit. Challenge accounts aren’t subject to this. If your EA trades the news, the funded account will pay less than the challenge suggested.
Rule 6: copy trading
Copying between a FundedNext funded account and any other FundedNext account is prohibited. Copying between your own challenge accounts is allowed, with total allocation across them capped at $300,000, and a VPS copier only between your own challenge accounts. External cloud copiers aren’t allowed.
The loss limits your EA must respect
| Challenge | Daily loss | Max loss | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stellar 2-Step | 5% | 10% | 8% then 5% |
| Stellar 1-Step | 3% | 6% | 10% |
| Stellar Lite | 4% | 8% | See current page |
A 3% daily limit is very tight for most EAs. Before you choose a challenge, compare your EA’s worst day, measured on starting capital, with that number. I explain how in daily drawdown rules that kill EAs.
FundedNext EA rules: my checklist before buying
- Account size under $50,000, on MT4 or MT5.
- EA add-on price added to the challenge cost.
- No HFT, grid, tick scalping or latency tricks in the EA.
- No Telegram or WhatsApp connection in the EA.
- Worst historical day below the daily loss limit, with room to spare.
- News behaviour checked against the 40% rule if you’ll be funded on Stellar.
- Written answer from support on anything unclear, especially the distinct-strategy rule.
My own portfolio EA, DoIt MultiStrategy Pro, was built for this kind of account: it sizes by money at risk, runs seven H1 strategies instead of a grid, and has account-level daily and total loss guards you can set below the firm’s limits. Check the rules above against it like you would against any EA. For the wider picture of which firms allow EAs and what their fine print says, see prop firms that allow EA bots.
Watch how I build strategies that are actually mine: in My Strategy Process: StrategyQuant to a €30,000 Allocation, I show the process behind the strategies I run on allocated capital.
The alternative without a challenge fee
If you trade your own system, Axi Select works differently: no challenge fee, a $500 minimum deposit, and capital that grows with your record. Its own rule is strict in another way: someone else’s EA is only allowed for generating signals, with trades placed manually. Affiliate link; I may earn a commission if you join through it.
I use both kinds of programs, never all in one. If you’re deciding how to split strategies across account types, read how I allocate strategies per account type. And before you pay for any challenge, prop firms make money when you fail is worth five minutes.
Comparing it with a program built on your own record? My Axi Select overview explains how the stages work.
Prop firm rules change often, and I check them before every account I open. Join the DoItTrading newsletter to hear when something important moves.
Rules checked on 1 October 2026 from FundedNext’s help center and challenge pages; they can change. This isn’t legal or financial advice. Trading involves real risk to capital.
