Step 1: Purchase Process on MQL5

Follow these quick steps to purchase your EA on MQL5:

  1. Go to the Product Page:
    Click the direct link to the product page on MQL5:

  2. Click the "Buy" Button:
    Once on the product page, click the orange Buy button.
  3. Select Your Payment Method:
    Choose your preferred payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc.) and click the green Next button to proceed.
  4. Complete the Payment:
    Confirm your payment details and finalize the transaction.
  5. Install your EA:
    After payment, install the EA directly to your MetaTrader platform and begin setup.

Step 2: Installing the EA

✅ No External Setup Required: DoIt Gold Guardian runs entirely within MetaTrader with no external connections needed. No API keys, no WebRequest URLs, no monthly costs. Just install, configure your risk, and trade gold.
  1. Log In to Your Terminal:
    Open your MetaTrader platform and log in with the MQL5 account you used to purchase the EA.
    ⚠️ Important: Make sure you log in using your MQL5 account login username (not your email or broker credentials).
  2. Locate DoIt Gold Guardian in Purchases:
    Go to the "Navigator" window. Under the Market and My Purchases section, find your newly purchased EA.
  3. Attach the EA to a XAUUSD (GOLD) Chart:
    Drag and drop the EA onto a XAUUSD chart.
    💡 Note: The timeframe doesn't matter - the EA handles everything internally. You can freely switch between timeframes without affecting the EA's operation.
  4. Enable Algo Trading:
    Make sure automated trading is enabled in your platform:
    • MT5: Look for the Algo Trading button in the toolbar. It should be green when enabled.
    • MT4: Look for the AutoTrading button in the top toolbar. It should display a green icon when enabled.
  5. Allow Algo Trading in EA Settings:
    When the settings window opens, ensure the "Allow Algo Trading" box is checked.
  6. Configure Your Risk Settings:
    Set your Account Balance Percentage and prop firm settings (if applicable). See the Configuration section below for details.

Step 3: Configuring Inputs

DoIt Gold Guardian is intentionally simple. Most of the trading logic is managed internally by the EA. Your main task is to set the Account Balance Percentage, and optionally configure the prop firm controls.

Basic Settings

Parameter Default Description
Magic Number Auto Unique identifier for this EA's trades. Set a different value for each EA if running multiple EAs on the same account to avoid conflicts.
Override Balance with Initial Account Size false Enable to use a custom balance for risk management calculations instead of your actual account balance.
Initial Account Size 0 Used when Override Balance = true
The account size the EA will use for risk calculations. Useful when your actual balance differs from your desired risk base (e.g., prop firm starting balance).
Account Balance Percentage 10 Percentage of your account balance to risk per position using the EA's internal position management. The EA uses protective SLs primarily for risk accounting and often manages positions with partial closes to smooth equity.
Monitor Resolution Auto Adjusts the on-chart user interface to match your monitor's resolution for the best display experience.

Max Daily DD (Drawdown) Disabled Extra safeguard that closes all trades if daily drawdown exceeds your configured threshold. Available modes:
  • % of Account Balance: Percentage of your current balance
  • % of Initial Account Size: Percentage of the configured initial balance
  • Fixed Amount (USD): Fixed dollar amount

How Stop on Profit Works

  1. Set your target - Configure the profit target in the EA settings
  2. EA monitors profit - Continuously checks your account profit
  3. Target reached - EA automatically closes all positions and stops trading
  4. Challenge passed - You've hit your prop firm profit target

How Max Daily DD Works

  1. Set your threshold - Choose the DD mode and value
  2. EA monitors drawdown - Tracks your daily drawdown in real-time
  3. Threshold exceeded - All trades are immediately closed
  4. Account protected - Prevents further losses for the day
⚠️ PropFirm Tip: Always set your Max Daily DD slightly below your prop firm's actual limit to account for slippage and spread widening. For example, if your firm allows 5% daily DD, set the EA to 4% for safety.

How to Backtest

  1. Open Strategy Tester:
    In MetaTrader 4/5, go to View > Strategy Tester (or press Ctrl+R).
  2. Select DoIt Gold Guardian from the EA list.
  3. Choose XAUUSD as the symbol and set your desired test period.
  4. Select Tick Mode:

🔍 Is the EA running? How can I check?

On MT5:

  • 🟢 Green hat in the top right corner = EA is running
  • 🔴 Red or gray hat = EA is not running or there's an issue

On MT4:

  • 😃 Smiley face in the top right corner = EA is running
  • ☹️ Sad face = EA is not running or there's an issue

Make sure Algo Trading (MT5) or AutoTrading (MT4) is enabled - the button should be green in the toolbar.

Any timeframe! The DoIt Gold Guardian handles everything internally. You can freely switch between timeframes on the chart without affecting the EA's operation.

Just make sure you're on a XAUUSD (Gold) chart - that's the only requirement.
